Killer Snake

The Killer Snake is a monster that appears in both Dark Cloud and Dark Chronicle, maintaining its appearance across the two games. In the first game, it is a tremendous monster snake that lives in the Wise Owl Forest. The villagers of Matataki Village were terrified of this monster. Fudoh, the village's most renowned hunter, was sent to kill it, but he died in the process of fighting it. Five years later, Toan was able to slay the beast with the help of the Serpent Sword.

In Dark Cloud 2, the Killer Snake can be found as a regular monster in Rainbow Butterfly Wood, and variations of the beast can be found in later dungeons as well. It has a boss variation, the Sea Dragon that is found in the Ocean's Roar Cave Water Chamber.

Battle Tactics[]

Dark Cloud[]

None, fought through a Duel.

Dark Cloud 2[]

Fighting the Killer Snake and its variations is not easy: its attacks pose a serious threat. Of the three attacks, one partially bypasses your block, one has the potential to completely disregard your block, and one knocks you down regardless. The first attack is a lunging bite, which although still deals partial damage through your guard, causes no hit stun when you block. It can, however, deal poison regardless of whether you block. It has a second normal attack, a tail swipe, which makes its target act as if it had taken an unguarded hit regardless of your block, but it shows that it inflicts 0 damage if you block while facing it. However, if you happen to have your back turned to it when it performs the tail swipe, you will take a fully unguarded hit.

The third attack is the most dangerous, the Killer Snake will go underground and reappear where you stood when it dug underground. If you are caught by this attack it will deal large damage and cause knock back. When it disappears, do not stop moving, and you will avoid its attack. It is best to fight all versions of the monster using the Ridepod, as all other weapons are weak against it, while the Ridepod is effective against the Killer Snake. Use a ranged arm such as the Barrel Cannon if you can. If you are able to safely close in before it fully burrows, the Samurai Arms' overall Attack stat(and the fact that they have some Scale on them) can more quickly subdue the Sea Serpent(2HKO w/ Samurai Arm I) and later variants.
