Gemstones, also known as Gems in Dark Cloud, are a type of item in the Dark Cloud series. They are rare weapon Attachments or Synthesis items, in the form of colorful rocks or minerals, that are used to increase weapon stats or create Inventions. Gemstones provide a significant stat increase over other Attachments or Crystals.
Dark Cloud

In Dark Cloud, Gems are used to enhance weapons temporarily, or permanently by fusing them to a weapon through Upgrading.
Acquisition
Gems can be obtained in the following ways:
- Treasure chests in Dungeon Back floors.
- Choosing "small chest" from a clown (randomly inside big chests)
- Purchase for 100 FP (Fishing Points).
- Miracle chest rewards for Georama completion.
- Scoring all "Cools" during a Duel.
- Purchase from the Fairy King, in Dark Heaven Castle, for 3000 Gilda.
- The Sun Gem can only be obtained by completing the Item Trade Quest.

Dark Cloud 2
Acquisition
In Dark Cloud 2, Gemstones can be obtained in the following ways:
- Spheda reward.
- Fishing Contest reward.
- Finny Frenzy reward.
- Rewards for georama completion in miracle chests scattered throughout the future.
- Sold by Morton's Sundries in Chapter 8.
- Monster Drops are given as a reward for building up Monica's Monster Badge to the next stage, the stat increases for the Monster Drop vary.
- Building up Monica's Monster Badge to its final stage yields a large number of a particular gemstone as a reward, which varies per Monster Badge.
Sun Stone and Moon Stone
- Both are rewarded for completing Moon Flower Palace's georama to 100%.
- Both are rewarded for beating Zelmite Mine's Dead End 1 boss.
- Both are rewarded for beating Zelmite Mine's Dead End 2 boss.
- Both are rewarded as Spheda prizes in Zelmite Mine.
- Finny Frenzy (Masterclass) prizes:
- Sun Stone - 1st place (first time only)
- Moon Stone - 2nd place
