Key items

Key items are specific items used to proceed through dungeon floors in the Dark Cloud series. A Gate key is used to progress to the next floor of a dungeon, they are always dropped by a specific enemy type on each floor. A locked door key, or floor key, is used to unlock a closed-off section of a dungeon floor. A back floor key, is used to gain entry into a back floor in Dark Cloud.

Gunpowder	Filling cannon with this allows launching.	Moon Sea
Clock Hands	Hands of a large clock. Shines mysteriously.	Gallery of Time
Black Knight Crest	A crest with a Black Knight on it.	Demon Shaft

Flapping Fish	Fresh fish. They will spoil unless kept on ice. A unique gate key that requires an ice block to keep from turning into a Rotting Fish.	Shipwreck	180	90
Rotten Fish	Rotten fish after being left out for a long time. An otherwise useless item that can be sold for one gilda. Attempting to use a Rotten Fish to gain access to the Back Floor on Shipwreck will result in the Junior Chief rejecting it.	Shipwreck	—	1

Flapping Duster	Magic Duster that revives broken magic carpet. Due to a bug during the translation process, this item was made unobtainable from chests and therefore normal gameplay. There have since been glitch methods found to obtain it, as well as fan patches to fix the bug.	Gallery of Time	—	400
