The Laser Arm is a ranged weapon arm for the Ridepod in Dark Chronicle. It is not available for purchase, but like all Ridepod parts, the Laser Arm and its later variants can be invented. The Laser Arm is available relatively late through the game, and is the second strongest ranged Ridepod weapon, on par with the Nova Cannon. Each Laser Arm is in fact a machine hidden by one semi-cylindrical barrel, cut vertically, with three large tubes nested on the inside of the barrel-half. The two outer tubes are larger than the center one, and each fires a single laser. Although the first two Laser Arms have a wooden exterior, the third is entirely red and made out of an unknown material, whereas the fourth is made out of gold.
The Laser Arm is similar to the Missile Pod Arm, as it is better suited for more open and spacious areas, and is liable to miss altogether without a lock-on. It differs in the number of projectiles fired, as the Laser Arm fires only four, with significantly higher damage, especially on the final version, which is the second-most powerful ranged weapon in the game. As an additional downside, each time the weapon fires it costs four WHP, making it very inefficient. Aside from its high Attack level, it also has high Exorcism.
The first Laser Arm, and Laser Arm II, become available for inventing in Chapter 5, for a relatively low price. Laser Arm III and IV can both be made in Chapter 7, although the latter requires the Legend of the Moon scoop which can only be taken at the very end, in the bossfight against Dark Element. Aside from the scoop and the required Diamond and four Holy Stones, building it can prove helpful for its damage potential until either the Nova Cannon IV or Samurai Arm IV can be made in Chapter 8's Zelmite Mine.
